What We Believe

Mission Statement
The mission of Westminster Presbyterian Church is to be an inclusive, nurturing, serving Christian community in our neighborhood, our city, and our world. As individuals and together we are called to:
  • seek a deeper relationship with God through worship, education and fellowship
  • share the good news of Jesus Christ
  • meet human needs
  • correct injustice, promote human rights, and advance peace
  • join with others in this mission

Denominational Affiliation
Westminster Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the largest Presbyterian body in the country. Presbyterian comes from the greek word Presbuteros which means elder. The Presbyterian Church is distinguished by the leadership of elders -- laymen and laywomen -- in all levels of church government.
Westminster works with the Presbytery of the Cascades, The Synod of the Pacific, and the denomination as a whole to work toward the four mission priorities of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

  1. Evangelism -- We are called to invite all people to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, by working for growth and renewal of individuals and congregational families of faith.
  2. Justice -- We are called to redress wrongs in every aspect of life and the whole of creation, working with the poor and powerless, whom Jesus loves, even at risk to our corporate and personal lives.
  3. Spiritual Formation -- We are called to study and reflect on Holy Scripture, praying with one another for insight and clarity, so that the Holy Spirit might mold our lives more and more into the likeness of Jesus Christ the living word.
  4. Partnership -- We are called to forge a vital partnership with one another marked by mutual respect, openness, daily repentance, and forgiveness.
